Position: We are seeking an established professional with experience in or business relationships with Physician Specialty Group clinics to serve as an Independent Contractor — Business Development / Lead Consultant, focused specifically on growing In-Office Dispensing (IOD) programs. (1099)
We are pleased to present the opportunity to join Carneros Healthcare Management LLC as an Independent Contractor specializing in business development for in-office dispensing within the specialty pharmaceutical market.
Carneros Healthcare Management Overview
We help independent specialty practices take back control of their dispensing economics with turnkey in-office dispensing programs, clean financial models, and operational support. Carneros offers:
- Raise contract productivity and reclaim hidden margin on dispensed product
- Grow predictable revenue from in-office dispensing and buy-and-bill therapies
- Run leaner, smarter dispensing operations with end-to-end efficiency models
- Support payer credentialing, market access, and compliant dispensing workflows
Position Summary
In this role, you will leverage your experience working with or selling to Physician Specialty Group clinics to identify and target practices that are strong candidates for in-office dispensing, develop strategic relationships with practice leadership, and initiate our sales process for IOD adoption. You will work independently while collaborating closely with our leadership and support team to achieve mutually agreed-upon business objectives.
Growth path: This engagement begins as an independent contractor role. Contractors who consistently originate qualified IOD accounts and demonstrate sustained revenue growth will be considered for transition to a full-time employed position with Carneros, inclusive of a base salary and employee benefits, at the company's discretion.
Target Practice Profile
The contractor's primary focus will be identifying and cultivating relationships with specialty practices that fit the following in-office dispensing target profile:
- Physician-owned specialty practices with high-volume oral or self-administered specialty prescriptions (e.g., urology, oncology, endocrinology, rheumatology, cardiology)
- Practices currently sending prescriptions to outside retail or specialty pharmacies where dispensing margin is being lost
- Practices with existing buy-and-bill or infusion operations that could be complemented by an oral/self-administered IOD program
- Multi-physician groups with sufficient prescription volume to support dispensing economics and PBM/payer credentialing requirements
- Practices located in states with favorable in-office and interstate dispensing regulations
- Practices open to operational support for payer credentialing, formulary navigation, and compliant dispensing workflows
Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Identifying and prioritizing specialty physician group clinics that match the IOD target practice profile
- Developing and managing relationships with specialty physician group clinics and related healthcare organizations
- Presenting Carneros's in-office dispensing solutions to practice decision-makers (physicians, practice administrators, office managers)
- Supporting contract discussions and assisting with onboarding new IOD accounts
- Providing market intelligence, competitive insights, and customer feedback on the specialty dispensing landscape
- Participating in scheduled meetings and providing regular pipeline and activity updates
Qualifications
The ideal candidate has:
- Demonstrated experience selling to, partnering with, or working within physician specialty clinics
- Strong, existing relationships within the physician specialty practice industry
- Knowledge of in-office dispensing operations, specialty pharmacy reimbursement, and patient services
- Familiarity with payer credentialing and medical vs. pharmacy benefit dynamics
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently and manage business development activities with minimal supervision
Compensation
Compensation for this role is structured entirely as a percentage of revenue generated from IOD accounts originated by the contractor, as follows:
- Revenue Share: % of net revenue generated from qualified in-office dispensing accounts originated by the contractor
- Performance Bonuses (if applicable): Based on mutually agreed-upon milestones for new account origination and dispensing volume growth
Revenue-share terms, payment timing, account ownership, and the criteria and timeline for potential transition to full-time employment will be detailed in the Independent Contractor Agreement.
Contractor Status
This is an independent contractor (1099) position and is not employment. As an independent contractor, you will:
- Maintain control over how and when you perform your services, subject to agreed-upon deliverables and deadlines
- Be responsible for all applicable federal, state, and local taxes
- Not be eligible for employee benefits, including health insurance, paid time off, retirement benefits, unemployment insurance, or workers' compensation coverage, unless and until transitioned to full-time employment
- Provide your own equipment, workspace, transportation, and other business expenses unless otherwise agreed in writing
Nothing in this agreement creates an employer-employee relationship, partnership, or joint venture unless and until the parties separately execute an offer of full-time employment.
Term
Services will begin on [Start Date] and continue until terminated by either party in accordance with the Independent Contractor Agreement.
Confidentiality
You will be required to protect confidential and proprietary information and comply with all applicable privacy and healthcare regulations, including HIPAA where applicable.
Compliance
You agree to conduct all business activities ethically and in compliance with applicable federal and state laws, industry regulations, and company policies relating to interactions with healthcare providers, specialty pharmacies, and pharmaceutical manufacturers.
